Boarding

Five Stars Farm provides meticulous care catered to your horse’s needs. We have 3 to 4 full time staff, and our trainer and barn staff live on site.

Horses are fed 5 times a day plus an additional feeding at night check if your horse needs it. We water twice a day, and buckets are cleaned daily. We offer top quality first or second cut hay throughout the day and at night check. All feeding programs are tailored to your horse’s needs.

We are happy to feed supplements that you provide at your own cost.

Blanketing and blanket changes (as needed) are included in board, as is booting, fly sheets, fly masks and fly spray for turnout.

We also have a separate 2-stall barn available for temporary board or for quarantine if the need arises.

Mary Howard runs a top-notch facility. Training, barn staff and horse care have all exceeded my expectations. My horse, a sensitive thoroughbred, has thrived on their consistent routine and his body looks better than ever.

Five Stars Farm has impeccable horse care with complete attention to each individual’s needs, a highly experienced professional to help with your riding goals at any level and a welcoming atmosphere. I am happy to be a part of the wonderful group of adult amateurs who are here. We are friends who love coming to the barn and getting together for wonderful meals as well. It’s a special place.

When I moved to southern New Hampshire from Vermont, the most important part of the move was finding the best place possible for my horse and me. Five Stars Farm and Mary Howard have been not only the best place for care and training of my horse, but also my ‘Happy Place’!

It gives me such peace of mind boarding at Five Stars Farm knowing that my horse is in such capable hands on a daily basis. From the caring, hardworking staff to the first-class facility, I really couldn’t have found a better place.

Everyone that boards, trains, lessons or works at Five Stars is just wonderful and we have a supportive community that has sustained us throughout the pandemic. Mary is kind, funny, perceptive and professional. She will meet you wherever you and your horse are at on your dressage journey

Training

Five Stars Farm offers full and part training for your horse. Horses in full training are worked five days a week – more if needed. The program is tailored to each horse with the goal of developing a healthy, strong and happy athlete, according to classical training principles – without pressure or shortcuts that only undermine the horse’s long-term progress and well-being.

Lessons

Lessons with Mary Howard are available on your horse or on one of our schoolmasters. Both private and semi-private lessons are available, running approximately 45 minutes. In addition, Mary is also available for shorter, half-hour lessons.

We also welcome truck-in lessons. Please contact us for more information.

Halifax is a handsome 2006 16.3h Hanoverian gentleman by Hochadel and imported from Germany. Halifax is trained through 3rd level, and he is also available for lunge lessons.

I met Mary 13 years ago when I was transitioning from an event rider to a dressage rider. Mary was an integral part in finding the perfect horse to allow me to develop my dressage skills and accomplish my goals. In less than 5 years, I went from Training Level to successfully competing through PSG and earning my Bronze and Silver medal along the way.
Mary has a mountain of knowledge and her ability to translate that knowledge, clearly, for her students to understand and execute is amazing! She meets her students and horses where they are at in their training and develops a custom program to ensure progress each week.

Showing

Many of our riders look forward to competing. Our farm typically maps out a show schedule each season, and Mary is available for coaching at the shows as well as for virtual dressage shows.
